Angie "Isabel" Hogle
A graveside service will be held for Isabel Hogle on Saturday, June 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Martinsburg Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor Ken Kelley officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the Morgan Grange 3340 Morgan Center Rd. Utica.
Isabel passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Exeter, California, at the age of 92. She was born March 1, 1921, to Tom and Pearl (Davis) McCullough in Martinsburg, Ohio. Isabel married Harold Hogle in 1940. They lived and labored on an 80-acre farm outside Utica, Ohio until his death in 1980. They adopted two children, Gary and Shari, both of whom meant everything to Isabel. She moved to Newark, Ohio, in 1983 and lived there until moving to California in 2002 to be near her daughter. While in Newark, she volunteered for the American Red Cross and was a caregiver to several friends.
Isabel lived a long and full life. Those who knew her were fortunate for she never knew a stranger, striking up a friendly conversation with so many. After moving to California, Isabel centered her activities around her beloved cat "Sparky". Everyone knew her as the lady with the black cat on the leash. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, crossword puzzles, and studying the Bible, recently reading the Old Testament thru for the second time. While not fond of the hot California weather, she enjoyed seeing the snow in the mountains, a short drive from her home.
Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Pearl McCullough, her husband, Harold, and her brothers, Carl and Burt. She is survived by her two children Gary Hogle (Mindy) and Shari King (Tim), sister-in-law, Betty McCullough, and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
