Avanell S. Beatty

A celebration of life service for Avanell S. Beatty, 81 of Utica will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2016 at Northside Church of Christ, 4277 Marion Rd. NE, Newark with her grandson Josh Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Martinsburg Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will welcome friends from 5-8 pm on Thursday, August 25, 2016.at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St. Utica.

Avanell passed away at her daughter's home on August 21, 2016. She was born on November 6, 1934 in Newark to the late Russell and Lillian (Boyer) Jones.

Avanell was a member of the Northside Church of Christ, Eastern Star, LaSertoma and the Utica Fire Department Auxiliary. She was also a successful business woman as the owner of the Spinning Wheel on Main St. in Utica from 1978-1993. She lived in Bradenton, FL for 20 years creating many beautiful friendships that she cherished.

She is survived by her loving family son, Ricci (Michael Gettys) Beatty; daughters and sons-in-law, Rena (Stanley) Cline, Debra (Jeff) Blacksten, Tamre Evans, Melinda (Tom) Balka and Kayla (Alan) Carter; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Dana (Sonny) Beatty who passed away May 14, 2001; brother, Orville Jones; sister, Faye Brandt; great-granddaughter, Charlie Rae Evans; and sons-in-law, Charles Evans and Wayne Shipman.
