Barbara Sinsabaugh, 92, of Granville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2023. She was born on December 31, 1930, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Jeannette Barry and Francis Henry Bentz. She married Philip O'Neil De Vol in 1954, and they shared almost 13 years of marriage until his death, also on July 1st. Barbara married Dr. Charles Frederick Sinsabaugh on July 15, 1989 and enjoyed a post-retirement period of their lives together until his death on January 6, 2014.

Barbara was a devoted wife, and a loving mother both to those who called her "mom" and to those who called her "step-mom". These include her children with Philip – Edward (Hoda) De Vol, Michele (David) Baker, Denise Sullivan, Jeanine (James) Fetter and Philip (Kari) De Vol, and her step children with Charles – Susan (Roy) Edwards, Kathryn (Eric) France, Nancy Sinsabaugh, Barbara Tolman, and Joseph Sinsabaugh. She was a grandmother to nineteen and a step-grandmother to nine and numerous great-grandchildren; also survived by sister-in-law, Susan Bentz. She was preceded in death by her three siblings – Mary Estelle (William) Ehret, Francis H. Bentz, and Father John Barry Bentz.

She was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School (Newark, Ohio) and of Mount Carmel Hospital College of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. Throughout her marriage with Philip and in the years following his death, she was a practicing registered nurse (almost 40 years), and dedicated to providing her patients the best possible care. Following her marriage with Charles, the two enjoyed Ohio State University football, traveling, gardening, and hunting together. Later in life, she was an avid reader, enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, and traveling extensively with her children and grandchildren by her side. She served as an organist at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (Newark, Ohio) during her early years, and then was a member of the St. Edward's Catholic Church parish (Granville, Ohio) until her death. She was known for her humility, yet strength of character. After the sudden death of her first husband and with five young children, she persevered to successfully raise them over the next 22 years as a single mother.  She was a dog lover. Dogs played a major role in her life, particularly "Bridgette", a golden doodle and her best friend.

A funeral mass to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the St. Edward's Church in Granville, Ohio with Monsignor Paul Enke as celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral mass.

As Charles and Barbara were strong supporters of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health in the Ohio State University College of Medicine, in lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to that department ( www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/details/309489) to the Alzheimer's Research Association ( https://www.alz.org/ ), or to the American Parkinson Disease Association ( https://www.apdaparkinson.org/get-involved/ways-to-give/) .

Barbara will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful woman who touched many lives with her goodness.
