Betty Jo Anne Stewart, age 79, of Mount Vernon, passed away at Whispering Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, on February 6, 2026. Betty was born on September 2, 1946, in Troy, Ohio, to the late Virgil Lawrence and Virginia (Pittman) Studebaker.
She was employed at the White Castle Corporate Office as a marketing secretary and also ran a daycare out of her home. Dedicated to caring for others, she went on to become a foster parent in Licking County, opening her heart and home to children in need.
Betty is survived by her children, Jeff (Vickie) Bowers, Amy Whitmore, Jenny Stewart Grennell; grandchildren, Whitney (Chris) Damani, Sean, Morgan Bowers, Josh, Jake and Joe Whitmore, Zabryon (Bre) Stewart, Jaimee Siegle, Timothy II (Justina) Siegle, Addyson (Lavrey Wimer-Tish) Siegle; great grandchildren, Zayden Knight, Zalayah Siegle, Kingston Stewart, Kaison, Messiah Siegle, Salem Stewart, Kouvr Siegle, Arlo Wimer-Tish, Makaila Siegle, Farrah, Kenton, Adam, Eillie (Theo) Whitmore, Ariss, Christian, Byron, Corinne Whitmore; sisters, Penny Barker and Janice Dillow.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Karl Stewart; brothers, Larry and Chuck Studebaker; and son-in-law, Michael Whitmore.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 2-4 pm at the Brucker Baker Funeral Home. Her service will be held on Sunday, February 15, at 3 pm with Pastor Cheryl Evans officiating.
