Betty L. Kent, 86 of Utica passed away on December 31, 2024 at her residence. She was born on January 26, 1938 in Licking County, OH to the late Delmar Lee and Lela Mae (Gordon) Tompkins.

Betty was a member of Utica Church of Christ. She was the former owner of Hair Flair since 1956. She lived in the Utica area all her life. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and organ, gardening and taking rides in the country.

She is survived by her son, Troy Kent; son-in-law, Kerry Freed; grandchildren, Marcus (Maribeth) Stockdale, Travis Kent, Tasha Kent, K.J. Freed, Cassandra (Nick) Byers, Angela (Rob) Watkins and Gabriela Louise Kent; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan C. Kent; daughters, Tammy Freed and Christine Stockdale; grandsons, Eric Scott Broseus and Nathan Stockdale; and brother, Raymond Bowers.

The family will receive friends from 11-12:30pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Utica Church of Christ, 115 N. Central Ave., Utica where the funeral service will be held at 12:30pm with Pastor Doug Swan officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
