Obituary

Bonnie Eleese Ramseyer, 85, of Utica, went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2026, at the Selma Markowitz Center in Newark following her second hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on August 6, 1941, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to the late Virgil Edward and Kathryn Elizabeth (Rosenbaum) Bradford.

Bonnie earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Kalamazoo College. She began her career teaching and later worked as a veterinary technician in her husband’s practice. After retiring from the practice, she focused her time on her grandchildren and on volunteerism.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and longtime devoted member of the Utica Presbyterian Church, Bonnie lived her faith through love in action. Whether caring for her family, supporting her church, or volunteering in her community, she gave freely of her time and talents.

For Bonnie, service to others was at her core. She served in a leadership capacity on numerous committees at her children’s schools, at her church, and in her community, offering her time wherever she was needed. In many cases Bonnie was honored by these organizations for her contributions and commitment. In addition Bonnie, lovingly known as BonBon, spent more than 30 years with the Utica softball team as a scorekeeper, den mother, and coach.

At the center of Bonnie’s life was her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dr. Richard D. Ramseyer; her children and their spouses, Fred (Dr. Patty) Ramseyer, Dr. Erich (Angie) Ramseyer, Rob (Anne) Ramseyer, and Dr. Kati Ramseyer; her grandchildren, Kathryn, Sophia, and Finn; her great-granddaughter, Shaylie; her siblings, Richard (Beth) Bradford, Virgil Bradford, and Fredricka (Edward) Duris; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Sean Atkinson and her sister-in-law, Clara Bradford.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 21 at Utica Presbyterian Church, 9 S. Main St., Utica, with Pastor Terry Holobaugh officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a future date, with details to be announced.

Bonnie’s family and friends will cherish her memory. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved, the people she encouraged, and the community she served. As they mourn her passing, they honor her memory by carrying forward the love and kindness she so generously shared.
