C. Frederick "Fred" Joseph
Utica - C. Frederick "Fred" Joseph passed away at age 91 on June 4, 2011. He was born September 8, 1919 in Luckey, Ohio to Arthur and Lydia Joseph.
He graduated from the College of Agriculture at The Ohio State University in 1942 and was commissioned as Ensign in the United States Navy Air Corps. Fred was a pilot in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was married to his college sweetheart, Helen Cryder, on December 1, 1945 at the end of the war. He and Helen farmed and raised eight children during their 65 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steve, and grandson Christopher Hartman.
Fred is survived by his wife, Helen, and children Robert (Linda), Sarah (Tom) Meeks, Rebecca (Douglas) Hartman, Laura (Jim) Mather, David (Rachel), Dan (Tammy), Tim (Lee Ann), and daughter-in-law Linda Hoffmann Joseph. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call at Law-Baker Funeral Home, Utica, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Monday, june 6, 2011 and at the Utica United Methodist Church 10-11 am Tuesday, June 7, 2011 where the Funeral Service will be held at 11 am with Pastor Ken Kelley officiating. Burial and graveside military service will follow at the Bell Church of Christ Cemetery, Utica.
