Utica - A funeral service for Carl "Doc" Landis, 82 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon VanWinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Owl Creek Cemetery.
Carl died November 20, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 15, 1929, in Nashport to the late Solomon E. and Stella (Sites) Landis.
Doc was a member of Owl Creek Baptist Church and a member of Newark Vibrators Model A Club. He was a Korean Army Veteran and retired welder with Owens Corning, Local 1280 and he also worked with Modern Welding.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elinor Jean (Spray) Landis of Utica; sisters-in-law, Grace Walters, Violet Postle, Sybil Robertson and Alice Spray; 18 nieces and nephews; 27 great nieces and nephews; 15 great great nieces and nephews; special friends, Agnes Palumbo and Dan Gorius.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Russel Landis; sisters, Molly Hughes and Roxie Bush.
