On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, the Lord gently touched Carol Ann Cope and called her home.

She was born December 8, 1938, in Johnstown OH and was a current resident of Mount Vernon. After many years of service, she retired from Lucent Technologies in 1993. Prior to its closure, she was a passionate and loyal member and music director at the Church of the Nativity in Utica.

She is survived by her son Larry (Fran) Cope of Toano VA, adopted "sister" and "brother-in-law", Barbara (Dale) McComb of Mount Vernon, adopted "grandson" Clayton (Melissa) Helton of Utica, and Mark (Sheila) of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jerrold E Cope, and son Donnie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mark J Hammond at St Luke Church, 307 N. Market St., Danville on Tuesday, November 28 at 11:00am. Interment at South Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may call at the church 45 minutes prior to Mass.

This may sound unconventional, but those of you who knew me know I was unconventional. If you're reading this, you know that the Lord has called me home. Do not be sad, for I am with the love of my life, Jerry, and my precious son Donnie, who passed away so long ago. I am surrounded by my family. Thank you and love to my grandson Mark, who never forgot me, and to my "grandson" Clayton, who was always there for Jerry and me through the years. Deepest love to my "sister" and "brother in law", who took care of my every need. Thank you to my three Angels of Mercy at Mount Vernon Health and Rehab, Colin, Rebecca and Marcia.
