Constance S. Baughman, 74 of Newark passed away on November 18, 2024 at her residence. She was born on August 13, 1950 in Columbus, OH to the late Loy M. and June E. (Dennis) Smith.

She grew up on a dairy farm where she learned the value of hard work. She learned how to care for the cows and calves. This hard work and tender loving care stayed with her the rest of her life. In high school her home economics teacher taught her the basics of sewing. This is when she fell in love with sewing and became a talented artisan who would transform fabric into stunning garments. She made many beautiful wedding gowns for several young brides including her daughters. This became her life's work.

She met her husband at the Hartford Fair in 1967. They soon fell in love and married. Together they had their own dairy farm and worked as a team raising cows and calves along with three children. There wasn't anything she couldn't do! She could run the farm if she needed to.

Connie was a member of Highwater United Church of Christ. She was a 4-H advisor of Baste and Bake 4-H Club where she taught other young children how to sew. She loved Collies and has always had one on the farm. She also loved flowers, especially hostas. She loved to mow grass and tear up the lawn mower so Tom always had something to fix! Her favorite thing to do was go on trips with her sisters where they would laugh at each other and with each other creating great memories.

Connie is survived by her husband of 52 glorious years, Thomas R. Baughman; children, Jennifer (Mark) Brown, Jessica (Mike) Stretton and Thomas N. (Megan) Baughman; grandchildren, Luke and Matt Brown, Jacob, Braden and Jayden Stretton and Aiden Baughman; siblings, Cathy Breeze, Sally (Tom) Vincent, Barb (Geoff) Tucker and Dale (Angie) Smith; brother-in-law, Larry (Phyllis Buxton) Baughman; sister-in-law, Becky (Jim) Lloyd; and multiple nephews and one niece.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Smith; brothers-in-law, Walter Breeze and Keith O'Connell; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Baughman and Sue Baughman.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
