The funeral service for David Gregory "Greg" Black, 68, of Newark will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at the Utica Church of Christ, 115 N. Central Ave, Utica with Doug Swan officiating. Burial will follow at Bell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2023  and one hour prior to service at the Utica Church of Christ.

Greg entered this world March 26, 1955 and departed on June 28, 2023. He was born to Jo Ellyn (Johnson) Black and the late David Charles Black in Mount Vernon, OH. Greg graduated from Utica High School in 1973. He was a graduate of Hocking Technical College, majoring in Oil Well Service and Maintenance; The Ohio School of Broadcasting, Cleveland, OH and Shoreline Community College in Seattle, WA.

He was employed as a Disc Jockey at WNKO/WHTH Radio Station in Newark, OH and upon moving to Everett, WA station KMPS- Country in Seattle. He worked as a technician at Saturn of Lynnwood, WA. Later, he co-owned and operated D&D Hulksters wrecker and scrap cars service. Upon relocating to Ohio, he was employed at Saturn in Columbus. For many years he was a DJ, playing for wedding receptions, class reunions and events.

In 1982, he married Lee, Kang Mi and together they had a son, David Adam (Mandy) and a daughter, Desireè Nicole who survive. Also surviving in addition to his mother are two granddaughters whom he loved dearly, Iris Lynn and Purity Kang Mi; brother, Phillip D. Black; fiancè, Tami McCoy; uncle, Kip Johnson and many cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death besides his father was Kang Mi Black.

Greg was a member of the Utica Church of Christ, Newark Rodders Car Club and former member of Sons of Amvets Post 95 in Mount Vernon, OH. He was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan, never giving up on them.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Utica Church of Christ, P.O. Box 532, Utica, OH, 43080, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
