Denver R. Landis, Sr.

Utica - A funeral service for Denver R. Landis, Sr., 93 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2486 Newark-Granville Rd., Newark. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery, Utica.

Family and friends may call 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2015 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.

Mr. Landis died March 19, 2015 at Selma Markowitz Care Center, Newark. He was born September 19, 1921, in Pendleton Co., WV to the late Oliver R. and Floda A. (Vance) Landis.

Denver was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 40 years, Utica Sertoma and coached Little League Baseball. He took pride in his ceramics and macrame work and enjoyed vegetable gardening and square dancing.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Julie Landis of Australia; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Terry Taylor of Arizona; eleven grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Carol Landis of Newark; daughter-in-law, Lelani Landis of WV; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Desdemona (Yoders) Landis who passed away May 27, 2005; son, Denver R. Landis, Jr.; daughter, Della Waugh; two grandchildren; brothers, Leo and Russell Landis; sisters, Nola Shrock, Freda Stimpert, Anna Bell Landis.
