Donald E. "Pappy" Snavely
Utica - A funeral service for Donald E. "Pappy" Snavely, 81 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
Pappy died March 6, 2011 at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. He was born September 2, 1929, in Bucyrus to the late Revie and Martha (Nichols) Snavely.
He worked at Continental Can/American National Can/Ludlow and retired after 30+ years of service. Pappy was a member of the auxilary fire department at Continental Can, was on the Utica Volunteer Fire Dept. for 30 years and was an Army veteran.
He is survived by wife of 41 years, Marge (Coss) Snavely of Utica; sons and daughters-in-law, Garry (Deb) Snavely, Richard (Vicki) Snavely, Donald Lee (Karen) Snavely, Michael Scott Smith of all of Utica; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann (Eric) Frye of Lynchburg, Martha Jane Snavely (Josh) of Millersport; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Judy (Ralph) Honaker of Bucyrus; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Amy) Snavely of Orlando, FL, David (Mary) Snavely of Bucyrus.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Homer, Eugene and Bill; sisters, Eleanor Williams, Mary Cobb and Veda Guigin.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 9 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica.
