Donald Lynn Rodeniser, Sr. A celebration of the meaningful life of Donald Lynn Rodeniser, Sr., 83 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Reverend Dallas Dryburgh officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with the Licking County Veterans Alliance providing military honors. Friends and family may call 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, February 2 at the funeral home. Donald died January 30, 2015 at Flint Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center, Newark. He entered this earth on September 14, 1931, in Newark to the late Lynn and Mina (Pletcher) Rodeniser. As a young boy, Don was involved in 4-H, FFA and had a love for fishing. Don graduated high school with the Homer Class of 1949. Shortly after graduation, he entered the United States Army, proudly serving during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. While there Donald met and married the love of his life Edith Treude on August 5, 1953. Don was a member of the Utica Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 92, Lynn Rodeniser VFW Post 9062, and lifetime Member of Utica Sertoma, where he served in many capacities over 30+ years including District Governor. Don was a wise, witty and encouraging man who created a family devoted to him. Prior to retirement in 1988, Don worked for 38 years at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Newark. Don's passions besides his family, and his much loved dachshund Katie were camping, playing cards, bird watching and sports. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donald (Diane) Rodeniser of Utica, daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth (Soney) Gilliand of Newark, Charlene (Richard) Wray, Darlene (David Dixon) Benedict all of Utica, honorary daughter, Shirley Maine of Utica, grandchildren who adore their "Pappy", Shawn (Tina) Gilliand and Shannon Gilliand, Sabrina (Ron Hayes) Rodeniser and Donnie (Danielle) Rodeniser, Faith Bumpus, Josh (Melissa) Wray, Jeremy Wray, Britton and Mallory Benedict, and 10 1/2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Lois) Rodeniser of Newark, John (Barb) Rodeniser of Utica, sister, Elizabeth (Everett) Lobdell of Utica, many nieces and nephews, much loved pet, Katie, great friends, Joseph and Dorie Overman. He is preceded in death by by his parents, his wife of 52 years, Edith; step-mother, Margueritte Rodeniser; granddaughter, Hope Gilliand, great-grandson, Donovan Gilliand; step-brother Bill McMurty and step-sister, Florence Raines. The children of Don would like to extend a special thanks to his sister Elizabeth and brother-in-law Everett who made it possible for dad to live in the home he loved during his declining years.
