Doris V. Beever
A funeral service for Doris V. Beever, 94 of Mount Vernon, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Rev. Duane E. Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the funeral home.
Doris went to be with Jesus on December 5, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital, Ashland. She was born May 19, 1918, in Wilkins Corner to the late Carroll L. and Lucy R. (Sherman) Simpson.
She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church in Mount Vernon where she played the piano and taught Sunday School. Doris was a Station Break bell ringer and enjoyed embroidering, sewing, singing and was known for her smile. At age 90 Doris received her honorary diploma from Newark City School.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Emmerson Blackburn of Loudonville, Mary and Kenneth Haller of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eileen Beever of Tucson, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, George W. Beever who passed away November 19, 2001, and brother, Roy L. Simpson.
