Emily Pauline Veatch, 97 of Newark passed away on June 8, 2024 at her residence. She was born on July 26, 1926 in Danville, OH to the late Dale and Edith (Reed) Alexander.

Emily was the matriarch and rock of the family. She was a dedicated and loving mother, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, canning and baking.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane (David) Riley, Janet (Mike) Garrett and Josephine (Lonnie) Short; grandchildren, Brian Riley, Christy Riley, Stacy (Joe) Zigler, Jeff Garrett, Teresa (Jimmy) Sweet and Chuck (Cindy) Short; 9 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters,  Mary Walters, Martha Walters and Claire Barber; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ross Veatch; son, John Veatch; brother, Kenneth Alexander; and sister, Nancy Walters.

The family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial will follow at Owl Creek Cemetery.
