Evelyn Holton

A funeral service for Evelyn Holton, 93, of St. Louisville will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the St. Louisville United Methodist Church, 127 N. Sugar St., St. Louisville with Rev. Dave Pagura officiating. Burial will follow at Porter Cemetery, Weaver Rd., St. Louisville.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the church.

Evelyn passed away on October 6, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center in Newark. She was born on May 7, 1925 in Mary Ann Township to the late Chester E. and Minnie (Mason) Rice. She was devoted to her family and approached life with a sense of humor and wit.

Evelyn had a zest for life, loved the family farm and nature, and to her, every day was a beautiful day. During her 60-year membership at the St. Louisville United Methodist Church and 37 years as a 4-H advisor, she mentored and instructed the youth of the community. She was an accomplished seamstress and also expressed her creativity through crafts and photography. Evelyn was a past member of Newton Township Fire Department, Newton Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Newton Community Homemakers Extension Club and a poll worker for the Licking Co. Board of Elections.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas (Marcy) Holton and J. Gregory (Cathy) Holton all of St. Louisville; daughters and sons-in-law, Teri (Mark) Schaller of Newark and Jan (Bill) Hosler of Granville; five grandchildren, Jill (Mike) Arrasmith, Kimberly Holton and husband, Eric DePuy, Christopher (Megan) Holton, Jessica Hosler and Marlena (Josh) McCarty; great-grandchildren, Kenae and Caleb Lybarger, Casen Holton and Miles McCarty.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John A. Holton; son, Rodney Holton; granddaughter, Sara Holton; twin sister, Janis Holton and sisters, Alice Linehan and Dora Rice.
