Francis M. Baluck

A graveside service for Francis M. Baluck, 88 of Mount Vernon, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Gary Gee officiating.
Mr. Baluck passed away July 16, 2016 at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon. He was born December 13, 1927, in Youngstown to the late Martin P. and Frances L (Misak) Baluck.
He was a tradionalist Catholic attending only pre-Vatican II Masses for the sacraments. Francis was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and after his discharge he attended and graduated from Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. While in college he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
At his wife's suggestion to follow a childhood dream, he obtained an aircraft pilots license in 1973 and later became instrument rated for the many cross country flights taken by the family.
He retired from AT&T (Western Electric) in 1988 as senior engineer after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan M. Needles and fiance, Randy Shadley of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Mercedes K., Somer M., Desirae L., Tyler L., Brooklynn G. Timmy F.; step-grandchildren, Nathan A., Chelsa L., Dustin L., and Geoffrey M. Shadley; step-great-grandchildren, Makenna R. and Keaon E. Shadley; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald (Martha) Baluck
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lucille K. Baluck who passed away May 18, 2004; son, Steven R. Baluck; brother, Robert B. Baluck; sisters, Norma J. Baluck and Patricia Wright.
