Gary R. Hayward

Gary R. Hayward, 76, of Johnstown passed away on October 23, 2021, at Johnstown Pointe. He was born on May 13, 1945, in Detroit, MI to the late Fred and Lillian Martha (Jonas) Hayward.

Gary served honorably as an expert rifleman in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was a warehouse supervisor for Rotary Multi Forms in Detroit, MI for over 25 years and later a shuttle bus driver for Courtyard by Marriott Columbus Airport until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of Harmony Church, loved golfing, bowling, and playing cards.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" and Sharon Hayward of Johnstown, Gary and Dee Hayward of Delaware, Rob Hayward of Johnstown; daughter, Crystal Hayward of Johnstown; grandchildren, Brandy Brothers, Johnny Brothers, Brittany (Haley Gendron) Hayward, Taylor (Robert Nauer) Hayward, Jodi (Austin Hogan) Hayward, Cassidy Brown, Cameron Brown, Samantha (Maurice) Milton, Lindsay (Samuel Goldring) Hayward and Hannah (Andrew Embry) Hayward; sisters-in-law, Barb Downey of Johnstown and Marie Shustek of Macomb Twp, MI; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen "Kathy" E. Hayward; great-grandson, Jackson Milton; and brothers-in-law Gerald (Jerry) Shustek and Howard (Buddy) Downey.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
