Genene Ann Gerhard

August 3, 1936 – March 4, 2018

A memorial service for Genene Ann Gerhard, 81, of Utica will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Utica United Methodist Church, 626 North St., Utica with Pastor Jason Snyder officiating.

Just before the sun rose over the Ohio Valley at 5:25 a.m. on March 4, 2018, Genene was called home to heaven to be with the Lord. She was born on August 3, 1936 in Norfolk, NE to Laurin and Esther (Bockelman) Henning. She grew up in North Platte, NE then moved to Milwaukee, was married and raised five children.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Bill) Buck; her children, David Gerhard, Deb (Dave) Bartelme, Marge Preston, Ronald Gerhard and Kathleen (Greg) Green; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Laurin and Esther Henning; daughter-in-law, Susan Gerhard and great-grandson, Benjamin Mlodik

She volunteered at Casa Maria Catholic Workers House in Milwaukee. Genene moved to Utica and became a member of the Utica United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the food pantry and was very involved in church VBS and missions. She will be greatly missed.
