George E. DeVries, age 92, of Newark, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Altercare South in Newark, OH. He was born on December 16, 1929, in Kalamazoo, MI. to the late Henry and Jennie (Schuur) DeVries.

George was a member of Church of God, God's Acres in Newark.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Helen (Cayton) Nice-DeVries; children, Kenneth (Rebecca) DeVries of Vicksburg, MI, Carol (Richard) Galler of Kalamazoo, MI, Norma (Ralph) Town of Utica, adopted sons, William Farrel of Schoolcraft MI, and Lee Farrel of North Fort Myers, FL,; step-children, Dwain, Lloyd, Emerson, Randy, Cheryl; 39 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife (2013), Myrtle (Nemire) DeVries; siblings, Robert DeVries, Rita DeVries,and Ruth Powell; and step-daughter Carol.

Visitation will be held from 9am - 11am Wednesday, August 24, 2022, with a funeral service at 11:00am at Church of God, God's Acres, 675 N. Cedar St, Newark, Ohio 43055. A graveside service will take place immediately following the funeral at South Lawn Cemetery, in Utica, Pastor Roger Decker officiating.
