Harold R. Humberston
A funeral service for Harold R. Humberston, 90 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Utica Church of Christ, 115 N. Central Ave. with Alan Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 28 at the church.
Harold died January 26, 2015 at Flint Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center, Newark. He was born September 14, 1924, in Markleysburg, PA to the late Hobart and Iva (Frazee) Humberston.
Harold was a member of the Utica Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was an Army veteran and member of the V.F.W., American Legion Post 92 and served as chaplain for the Utica Fire Department.
Harold was a glass cutter by trade and worked at PPG in Mount Vernon and retired from GE in Worthington. He loved to work in his garden, loved people and always liked to give hugs.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy (Gower) Humberston, daughters and sons-in-law, Aletia and Bob Curtis of Utica, Yvonne Bero of Ashtabula, Tina and Craig Pargeon, son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Carolann Humberston of Apple Valley, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Carolyn Humberston of Fairmont, WV, sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Jim Newell of Linthicum Heights, MD, several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Humberston Sr. and sisters, Grace Jones and Ann Hartge.
