Helen G. Pozderac

Helen Genevieve (Gruszecki) Pozderac, 90, of Utica, formerly of Garfield Heights, died peacefully at home on September 7, 2016.
She was born in Jefferson County to the late John and Helen M. (Brodzinski) Gruszecki on June 28, 1926. An independent young woman, a generation ahead of her time, she was a Cuyahoga County resident for 64 years and a faithful member of St. Therese Catholic Church for 50 years. A devoted wife and mother, Helen spent her lifetime enjoying her most important calling, raising her children, and sharing her time in service to her family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Michael N. Pozderac, on December 28, 2003; her son, Patrick; her sisters, Stella (Adam) Jakubowski, Lillian (Paul) James, Anna (Steve) Sevek; her brothers, Joseph (Mary), John (Helen), Leon (Virginia, Helen), Frank (Mary) and Adam Gruszecki; and in-laws, Mary (Steve) Javersak, Albert Beadnell, and Thomas Christie.
Helen leaves behind her daughters, Patricia (James) Dunlea of Bedford, Massachusetts, Pamela (Bruce) Hager of Utica, and Melanie (Morgan) Faunce of Medina; daughter-in-law, Nisi Pozderac of Valley City; sons, Philip (Kimberly) of Carrollton, Texas, Paul (Elizabeth), Michael J. (Rene'), and Milan (Kimberly) of Mount Vernon, and Marvin (Allison) Pozderac of Westlake; thirty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; in-laws, Mary Gruszecki and Pauline Gruszecki, Emil (Maryann) Pozderac, Rose Beadnell, and Johanna Christie, many nieces and nephews, and cousins by the dozens. All were special to her.
The family will receive guests at 11:00 a.m., followed by the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at noon on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 16017 Smith Road, Summitville, Ohio. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Foundry Hill Road, Salineville, Ohio.
