Horace Shipman

Utica - A funeral service for Horace Shipman, of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2011 at Northside Church of Christ, 4427 Marion Rd. NE, Newark with Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.

Horace died September 14, 2011 at Heartland of Centerburg. He was born January 8, 1924, in Eddison to the late Albert J. and Minnie (Clark) Shipman.

He was a member of North Side Church of Christ, World War II Army veteran. Horace retired from VanWey Sand and Gravel.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary JoAnn (Ashburn) Shipman of Utica; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jane Shipman of Mount Vernon, James "Jim" and Connie Shipman of Dresden, Steven and Patsy Siegfried of Witchita Falls, TX, Jerry "James" Siegfried of NC, Lawrence and Sherry Shipman of Mount Vernon, Paul Shipman of Utica, Horace "Buzz" and Donna Shipman of Mount Vernon; daughters and sons-in-law, Royce "Tootie" Smith of Mount Vernon, Janet Sue Thompson of St. Louisville, Jeannie White of Utica, Laurie and Douglas Diggins of Utica, Denna and Fred Mick of Utica; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Avon and Margaret Shipman of Ashville, NC.

He is preceded in death by his son, Wayne L. Shipman; two grandsons, Kevin D and Gary L. Root; brothers, Kenneth and Arthur Shipman; sister, Margaret Webb.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica.
