A funeral service for James Webster Hellyer, 73 of Johnstown, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Pastor Walter Bruah officiating. He will be laid to rest in Liberty Township Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hellyer passed away October 22, 2017 at Selma Markowitz Center, Newark. He was born April 13, 1944 in Columbus to the late Miley B. and Sonora M. (Webster) Hellyer, Sr.
Jim attended Fredonia Baptist Church and retired from AT&T in 1995 after 25 years of service. He was awarded a Community Service Award by Kiwanis International.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gentleman farmer. He was a life member of the NRA and an NRA certified firearms instructor.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Joan E. (LaBair) Hellyer; daughter, Paige Woodward and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife of 43 years, Nancy Lee (Martindale) Hellyer.
