James Arthur Rice, age 92, of Newark, passed away on September 22, 2022, at Adams Lane Care Center. James was born on June 27, 1930, to the late Arthur H. and Vera M. "Schwartzenberger" Rice.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. James was a member of the Masonic Lodge #291, the American Legion #92, Maennerchor in Newark, Aladdin Shriner, and the Association of Ohio Long Rifle Collectors. He was a tool and die maker, was an avid gun smith.

James is survived by his loving children, Janet, Douglas and Gail Rice; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Fred (Christine) Rice; and sister, Mary (David) Robinson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lavaun L. Rice; brothers, Robert, Bill, Richard Rice; sisters, Sharon Hrabe, and Eileen (Wayne) Beever.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 5 - 7 PM and Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 12-2 PM at the Law-Baker Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held on Thursday, at 2:45 PM with Pastor Rocky Smith officiating, in Wilson Cemetery.
