Jed J Higgins

Mount Vernon - Calling hours for Jed J Higgins, 51, of Mount Vernon, will be held Thursday, May 26, at Grove Church of Christ, 7740 Grove Church Rd., Gambier from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., with the funeral service at 7 p.m. Roger Crego will officiate.

We will combine services for Jed and his brother Ted who passed away on May 20, 2011. Jed will be laid to rest in Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg on Friday.

Jed died May 24, 2011, at Country Court Nursing Home, Mount Vernon, where he has been almost 13 years after suffering a brain stem stroke. He was born December 19, 1959, in Mount Vernon to Jack J. and Carolyn R. (Walton) Higgins.

He was a graduate of Centerburg High School and served in the Navy.

He is survived by his son James Derrick Higgins, grandson Alexzander Jed Higgins both of Mount Vernon; his parents, Jack J. Higgins of Gambier and Carolyn R. Higgins of Mount Vernon; grandmother, Imogene Higgins of Mount Vernon; one brother Jon (Wendi) Higgins of Centerburg; five sisters, Cindy (Rodney) Harris of Frazeysburg, Wendy Smith of Cable, Teri (Keith) Page of Sunbury, Tami (Keith) Ruhl of Mount Vernon and Shamra Ann Johnson of Columbus; foster sister, Lovina Murvine and family of Newark; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jazmine Marie, Star Atlantica and a grandson Devon Phoenix.

Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica, is assisting the family with arrangements.
