John Douglas Bickel, 84 of Utica passed away on June 21, 2026 at St. Ann’s Hospital. He was born on November 13, 1941 in Columbus, OH to the late Charles Ray and Bertha Mae (Cline) Bickel.

John was a machinist and retired from Grote Company after many years. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and working on automobiles. He also enjoyed traveling in his RV.

He is survived by his children, Jonathan (Susan) Bickel and Trina Barton; step-children, Brian Adams, Amy (Brian) Adams-Ward and Cynthia Adams; grandchildren, Alicia Jackson, Gabriel Farthing, Nathaniel Farthing, Aiden Ward, Amelia Adams-Brace and Agatha Adams-Brace; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Daisy Smith; brother, Jim Bickel; sister-in-law, Vestina Bickel; and many nieces and nephews..

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol J. Bickel; second wife, Sandra J. Bickel; and brother, Jerry Bickel.

A private graveside service will be held at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
