John E. Rutherford, 71, of Utica passed away on December 13, 2022 at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1951 in Mt. Vernon to the late Elbin and Mary Louise (Riffle) Rutherford.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Christina "Kip" (Tyler) Rutherford; children, Diana (Maurice) Hatch, Jimmy Owens, Chad (Stephanie) Owens, Peggy Wilkinson and John (Shanon) Rutherford; grandchildren, Allison Hatch, Nichole Wilkinson, Brooklyn (Clay) West, Kenny Hatch, Garrett Hatch, Rebekah Rutherford, Kaleb Rutherford, Travis Owens, Nina Owens, Jenna Owens and Nathan Owens; great-grandchildren, Ava Bowen and Clara West; sister, Rosemary (Fred) Throm; brother, Phillip Rutherford; brother-in-law, Jim (Rick Snoor) Tyler; sisters-in-law, Mary Kay Angeletti and Charlotte Nutter; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Everett Rutherford.

John was an amazing dad and grandpa. He was well loved and will be deeply missed.
