Obituary

Johnnie Allen Walker, age 66, of Utica, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, with family at his side. Johnnie was born on June 25, 1959, in Mt. Vernon to Homer Madison and Deloris Jean (Smith) Walker.

He was a loving son, father, brother, and uncle who treasured his family above all else. A devoted member of the Martinsburg Church of Christ, he lived his faith through kindness and service to others. To know Johnnie was to love him-he had a heart of gold, and never met a stranger, and always remembered your name.

He had a deep love for working with ponies and was actively involved in the mini pony team pulling community, where he formed many lasting friendships. One of his greatest joys in life, aside from his son, was attending parades with his pony wagons-something he took great pride in and truly enjoyed sharing with others.

Johnnie shared a special bond with the Amish community and spent much of his retirement working as an Amish taxi driver, a role he genuinely enjoyed. He was a proud member of the Utica Sertoma Club, and looked forward each year to volunteering at the Velvet Ice Cream Festival, where he helped park cars and connect with the community.

He worked at the Utica Hometown Market for many years and dedicated a large portion of his career to Jeld-Wen before retiring. He will be remembered for his friendliness, strong work ethic, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he met.

Johnnie is survived by his son, Johnthan Walker; mother, Deloris Jean Walker; siblings, Mike (Mindy) Walker, Tim (Cindy Preston) Walker, Kevin (Frankie) Walker, Keith Walker, and Kelly Walker; and many nieces and nephews, Brittany (Eric) Ball, Adam Jacks, Serinna Walker, Kaylee Walker, Cody Walker, Kandis Hall, Paige Walker, Dustin Walker, Dakota Walker, Sydney Walker, Addeline Walker, Grayson Walker, and many other great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his brother, Sheldon Walker; and sister, Jeanie Renae Walker.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 4-7 pm at the Brucker Baker Funeral Home. His service will be held on Thursday at 12 noon with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial will take place in Martinsburg Methodist Episcopal Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm at Martinsburg Community Center.
