A graveside service for Joseph W. Berg, 98 of Homer, will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Homer Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.

Friends may call Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica, .

Joe's last entry in his "count-down book" was: Today is March 14th, I'm 98 years old, in 80 more days I'll be 99. I am a war baby, I was born in June 1917. I remember when women wore dresses and cars didn't have heaters. I also remember my mother and father, Howard and Mary Frances (Straka) Berg.

I am survived by my son and daughter-in-law, Howard Gail and Peggy Berg of Manassas, VA; three grandsons, Jeffrey (Belinda) Berg of Mackay, QLD, Australia; Jason (Tory) Berg of Williamsburg, VA; Justin (Amanda) Berg of Ankara, Turkey; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Jackson; great-granddaughter, Jordan; and David (Sandy) Berg of Carlisle, PA, who was raised like a son by Joe and Bea.

I am preceded in death by my wife of 63 years, Beatrice A. (Hatfield) Berg and my brother, Kenneth Earl Berg.
