Juanita M. Warthen, 83 of Newark passed away on August 5, 2024 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1941 in Athens County, OH to the late Ross and Bertha (Van Dyke) Phillips.

Juanita was an educator and taught for 12 years at Circleville, Newark, Upper Arlington and North Union. She then became a substitute teacher at CTEC where she also taught adult classes. She was a member of the OFSWCD Auxiliary and was the Fiscal Officer for Newark Township for 19 years. She enjoyed knitting, hand quilting, gardening and farming.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Charles A. Warthen; son, Brian Warthen; and sister-in-law, Martha Wolfe.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends from 2-5pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Evans Cemetery.
