Kathryn A. Wells

Utica - A funeral service for Kathryn A. Wells, 95 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2012 at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Holobaugh officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.

Kathryn died January 19, 2012 at Selma Markowitz Center/LMH, Newark. She was born October 10, 1916, in Coshocton County to the late Forrest L. and Hattie (Mizer) Matthews.

Kathryn was a member of Utica Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Martinsburg High School, attended Ohio University and taught school at Alexandria. Kathryn married A. Elwood Wells on December 21, 1941 and taught at Bladensburg and then Utica in 1966. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1970 with a Bachelor Degree in Education. Kathryn enjoyed family and preparing large family meals, trips out West to visit relatives and fishing in Canada.

She is survived by her son, Woody Wells of Gambier; daughter and son-in-law, Beth Ann and Mike Kennedy of Thornville; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband A. Elwood Wells who passed away Sept. 5, 2009; granddaughter, Kerri Kennedy; brothers, William and Paul Matthews; sister, Marjorie Stricker.
