Laura M. Etling
Mount Vernon - A graveside service for Laura M. Etling, 86 of Homer will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Homer Cemetery with Reverend Carol Weiss officiating; followed by a Celebration of Life dinner at Homer Fire Dept.
Laura died August 15, 2011 at her daughters after a extended illness. She was born August 28, 1924, in Vincent, Ohio to the late George C. and Christa E. (Smith) McMains.
She was a member of Homer Presbyterian Church where she played the organ, Ladies Aid, Homer Fire Dept. Auxiliary and volunteered for Red Cross. Laura retired from Northridge School as secretary after 25 years.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary E. and Char Etling of Mountain View, HI, Michael E. and Beverly Etling of Westerville, daughters and sons-in-law, Debra S. and Denny Hess of Johnstown, Cathy A. and Lynn Rowe of Mount Vernon, 7 grandchildren, Christy Sakamato, Robb Etling, Justin Hess, Andy Etling, Heath hess, Angie Schmidlin, Daniel White; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Etling who passed away June 30, 1984; brothers, Leo, Carl, Dale, James, Forrest and Roy McMains; sister, Frances Robertson.
