Lawrence "Larry" Brown, 55, of Utica passed away at home on March 14, 2023 after some ongoing health complications. He was born on April 5, 1967 in Mt. Vernon.

Larry graduated high school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served as a Boiler Tech on the USS John King DDG3 during the Gulf War. Anyone who spent much time with Larry probably heard more than just a few of his Navy stories involving his Navy buddies who became his life long friends.

After leaving the Navy he worked at different jobs from driving semi trucks, to repoing cars, but his true passion was "wrenching". He loved working on cars and spent many days helping friends work on their cars. From hot rods to minivans, he would be the first guy there to lend a hand.

After becoming disabled, Larry became an avid gamer, playing WOW, World of Tanks and other games. Not only did he enjoy playing games, he treasured the friendships he made with other players. No matter how you knew Larry, knowing him meant you had a friend for life.

He is survived by his loving fianc é e, Deb Hyatt of Utica; mother, Twila Eagleston of Utica; son, Waylon Brown of Columbus; daughter, Karissa (Kevin) Bevard of Utica; brothers, David (Dana) Brown of Nashport and Paul (Cheryl) Brown of Waverly; sister, Chery Brown of Utica; as well as 6 grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rick Eagleston; and brother, Ricky Collins.

Friends and family are welcome to gather with us at the Martinsburg Community Building on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 2-5pm. We would love to hear your stories and memories of Larry. Military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be performed at 5pm.
