Lowell C. Lupher

Utica - Lowell C. Lupher, 78, of Utica, passed away with his family by his side after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer on December 15, 2010 at The Selma Markowitz Care Center.

At Lowell's request, there will be no viewing or graveside service however, the family will hold a celebration of life open to the public at law-Baker Funeral Home on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Lowell was born April 6, 1932, in Utica to the late Preston C. and Mary (Pry) Lupher.

Lowell began his lifelong career as an electrician working for his father and from there he worked at Rockwell International, Utica Miller Co., Velvet Ice Cream and retired from Utica Holophane in 1999. Lowell had several very special friends and was called upon for his advice and service by many. He served in the United States Army and was also a member of the American Legion Post #92. He will be greatly missed by many especially his faithful "coffee drinkers". Lowell was a wonderful husband, father and "Paps".

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 32 years, Betty I. (Watson) Lupher of Utica, step-children, Howard Ludwig, Jr. (Gwendolyn Ramsey) of Utica, Edward (Kathy) Ludwig of Silver City, NM, Tami Ludwig of Newark, and Michael (Deanna) Ludwig of Utica; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Rosalie) Lupher; sisters-in-law, Rowena Lupher and Jean Lupher and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald, Donald and Richard.

A very special Thank You goes to the staff at The Selma Markowitz Care Center for the loving care that Lowell received, Dr. Jacqueline Jones and staff and Dr. Richard Simon and staff.

May our loved one rest in Peace.
