Luren David Thompson
Utica - Calling hours for Luren David Thompson, 77 of Utica, will be held Thursday, 5-8 p.m., at Law-Baker Funeral Home. Commital will take place at Bell Cemetery.
David died May 3, 2010 at his residence. He was born April 14, 1933, in Woodlawn, MI to the late Thomas W. and Lena (Sheldon)Thompson.
David moved to Licking County in 1948. He operated a dairy farm for over 20 years, being a member of N.F.O. during that time. David was a Morgan Townhip trustee for 8 years. He enjoyed taking his family boating. He taught the kids and their friends to water ski. A favorite of his was pulling tractors. He started in the 50's with the sled tug pulls. He followed the National Tractor Pullers Curcuit from 1972 to 1983. During this time they traveled extensively and made many good friends from other states. They spent several winters in Florida with their tractor pulling family.
After his retirement in 2007, he enjoyed working in his wood shop and touring the farm in his Kubota with Pepper.
He is survived by wife of 60 years, Ada (Cooksey) Thompson of Utica whom he married December 29, 1950; 2 daughters, Nancy and Steven Weber of Granville, Peggy and Duane Jenkins of Utica, granddaughter, Jacki and Todd Bennett of St. Louisville, grandson, Brent Jenkins and Amy Tavener of Utica, three great grandsons, Nolan, Chase and Wyatt Bennett all of St. Louisville, brother-in-law, Bill Cooksey of Columbus, sister-in-law, Alice of Newark, two nieces, two nephews including Ross and Lori Cooksey of Utica, business partner, Rod and Cheryl Booth of Utica, special friends, Nick Booth and Aimee Sowers.
