Margie Ann Roman, 82 of Utica passed away on January 12, 2025 at her daughter's residence. She was born on June 18, 1942 in Murphysboro, IL to the late Howard Murl "Mike" and Sarah Pauline (Young) Reiman.
Margie graduated from Murphysboro High School in Illinois and then Bethany College of Missions in Minnesota. She then moved to New York to work at Teen Challenge, a Christ centered drug and rehabilitation program. That's where she met her late husband, Peter John Roman and they were married on September 29, 1967 by David Wilkerson. She was then sent by Teen Challenge to start a youth outreach in Columbus, OH. She later moved to Utica and built a log cabin. She made a living cleaning houses in the Granville area where she met many friends. She became a homesteader and enjoyed living off the land, gardening, canning, quilting, sewing and had many friends in the Amish and Mennonite communities. She loved spreading the word of Jesus. She was a member of the Christian community in the Licking and Knox County areas.
She is survived by her children, David Roman, Rosemarie Roman and Kevin (Jami) McKinney; grandchildren, Harmony Roman, Lauren Hortz, Mackenzie, Hunter and Annabel McKinney; sisters, Mary Huseman and Marilyn Stegmann; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Peter John Roman; sister, Maxine Ellet; brothers, Frederick "Mick" Reiman and Claude "Pat" Reiman.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday at the funeral home with Rabbi Doshia Parrott from Mogen David Synagogue officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
