Obituary

Marjorie D. Fawcett
June 20, 1930-January 13, 2019

A funeral service for Marjorie D. Fawcett, 88, of Utica will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 at Grove Church of Christ, 7740 Grove Church Rd., Gambier with David Dahlstein officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Gambier.

Calling hours will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.

Marjorie passed away quietly in her home on January 13, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She was born June 20, 1930 in Mt. Vernon to the late Gladys (Shearer) and Leonard Lahmon.

She worked for a short time at Pittsburgh Plate Glass and later at the Miller Lighting Company in Utica as a press operator. When our dad opened the "300" Sports Shop in Utica, from that location, she was a registrar for the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She also took the census of the residents of Utica. After a family move to Tennessee, she worked at Martin Manufacturing, which made shirts for the U.S. military. When returning to Ohio, she worked for many years at Irish Hills Golf Course, the job she loved best.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing dice, and was a formidable Euchre player. But she was happiest while spending time with her family, especially when grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along!
Marjorie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Utica.

She is survived by three daughters, April Clark, Debra (Rick) Stringer of Tennessee, Linda (Chuck) Chaloupka of Florida, and one son, Gary (Gigi) Hendrickson, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one sister, Marybelle (Lahmon) Belcher, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys (Shearer) and Leonard Lahmon, her husband of more than sixty years, Gordon "Dynamite" Fawcett, and one brother, John Lahmon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Utica EMS, P.O. Box 147, Utica, OH 43080, Kindred Hospice, 122 Harcourt Rd., Ste #3, Mt. Vernon, OH 43050 or The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
