A funeral liturgy for Marvina A. Spurlock, 47 of Utica, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Reverend JCP Sullivan as celebrant.
Friends may call 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Law-Baker Funeral Home with a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Marvina passed away June 11, 2016 at Mount Carmel West, Columbus. She was born July 30, 1968, in Newark to Steven S. Baker and Marvine K. Shomaker.
She was a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Newark. Marvina had a Bachelor's degree from DeVry and Master's degree from Keller's University in Telecommunication and Education. She was a substitute teacher and helped develop the business program for the collegeASPIRE at COTC. Marvina liked to fish and sew, enjoyed helping people and did a lot of charity work.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Robert L. Spurlock; daughter, Chasity "Brooke" Perkins; mother, Marvine K. Shomaker; father, Steven S. Baker; brother, Steven S. Baker, Jr.; sisters, Annette (Michael) Miller and Angel Webster; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sharon Kay (Tim) Milbaught.
She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ralph Jeffrey Spurlock.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017.
