Mary P. Booth

A funeral service for Mary P. Booth, 96, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, at Utica Church of Christ, with Pastor Doug Swan officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, prior to the service at the church, 115 N. Central Ave, Utica, Ohio 43080.

Mary passed away October 14, 2021, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born April 7, 1925, in Newton Falls, Ohio, to the late Elmer and Ruth (Pemberton) Hughes.

Mary was a lifetime member of Utica Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She retired from Watts after 20 years as a waitress making lifelong friends and acquaintances

During WWII Mary served her country as "Rosie the Riveter" at Willow Run Bomber Plant in Michigan building B24 Bombers.

Mary enjoyed watching Ohio State Buckeyes, traveling and cooking/baking for her family. She was always there in support of her family with love and understanding.

She is survived by her children, Ruth (Jim Hottle) Summers of St. Louisville, Earl L. (Shawn Marie) Booth Jr. of GA, and Tom (Kay Walker) Booth of Newark; grandchildren, Steve Summers of FL, Justin Booth of GA, Tuesdee Parrish of Westerville, Brandon Booth of Newark, Earl V. Booth of Utica, and Bridgette Hatley of Pataskala; great-grandchildren, Grant, Zayne, and Kasyn. She is survived by Alice Hughes (sister-in-law) and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Booth; brothers, Jack and Elmer Hughes, and sister, Marjorie Tyson.
