Mary C. Dickerson, 86 of Utica passed away on May 4, 2024 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born on February 4, 1938 in Granville, OH to the late Truman and Goldie (Priest) Ables.
Mary graduated from Granville High School in 1956, after which she married Frank (Tom) Pendleton. They had three daughters.
Mary worked in the office of Moore's stores for ten years. She was a bus driver for North Fork Schools for 4 years. She retired from American National Can after 21 years in 1998.
She married Gilbert Dickerson May 15, 1998. Together, they were "snowbirds" spending winters in N. Fort Myers, Florida. They enjoyed retirement, traveling to Las Vegas, Canada and Tennessee.
Mary will be greatly missed by her daughters, Cynthia (Dee Dee) Pendleton of Mt. Vernon and Linda (Lester) Grennell of Utica; 6 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; great grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Mary was thankful for her family and close friendships with Leonard and Dottie Dickerson, Gary Shuman, Mary and Bernie Arrington and Don White.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter, Brenda Layton; brother, Russell Ables; and sister, Betty (Jimmie) Sartin.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
