Mary JoAnn Shipman

A funeral service for Mary JoAnn Shipman, 81 of Utica will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Northside Church of Christ, 4427 Marion Rd. NE, Newark with Bruce Hissong and Frank Austin officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.

Mary passed away January 15, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. She was born February 14, 1936 in Bladensburg to the late Hallie and Betty (Veatch) Ashburn.

She was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, David and Connie Ashburn of SC; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jane Shipman of Mt. Vernon. Steven and Patsy Siegfried of Witchita Falls, TX, Jerry "James" Siegfried of NC, Lawrence and Sherry Shipman of Mt. Vernon, Paul Shipman of Utica, Horace "Buzz" and Dona Shipman of Mt. Vernon, Connie Shipman of Dresden; daughters and sons-in-law, Royce "Tootie" Smith of Mt. Vernon, Janet Sue and Jeff Thompson of St. Louisville, Jeannie White, Laurie and Douglas Diggins, Denna and Fred Mick all of Utica; many many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Shipman; sons, Wayne L. Shipman, James "Jim" Shipman; grandsons, Kevin D. and Gary L. Root; brothers, Lee Calvin "Sonny", James and Larry Ashburn; sisters, Nancy Thorn, Sarah Pargeon, Edith Woodruff.
