A funeral service for Mary Lou Smith, 89 of Utica, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Frank Austin officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2018, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith passed away November 1, 2018, at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was born January 10, 1929, in Newark to the late John and Emma (Schinske) Feldner.
Mary Lou was a charter member of La Sertoma, Utica Community Service Guild (former Trudeau Guild), American Legion Auxiliary Post #92 and a volunteer for Utica Volunteer Emergency Squad. She worked at Ritchey's Restaurant, PPG, JC Penney, Licking Co. License Bureau and Park National Bank and served on the Board of Elections. Mary Lou enjoyed the Utica Sertoma Ice Cream Festival, the Utica Homecoming and traveling with friends.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Donna Smith of Warsaw, grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Smith of Clintonville, Adam and Julie Smith of Gahanna; great-grandson, Sullivan Russell Smith, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed and Kathleen Smith of Utica, Carl and Thelma Jean Kenney of Pataskala and several nephews and nieces.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert L. Smith who passed away April 24, 2001, sons, Michael Lee Smith and Dennis James Smith, sister and brother-in-law, Florence "Flossie" E. and Richard C. Claprood.
