Mary Lucille Wicker
Lucille Wicker, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 10, 2022, after a short illness at Arlington Care Center in Newark Ohio. She was born on December 26, 1932, in St. Louisville, Ohio. Lucille was the daughter of the late Fred and Lillie (Maharg) Smith of Johnstown Ohio; she was one of ten children born to Fred and Lillie Smith: six boys and four girls. She was also a lifelong member of The Freewill Baptist Church in Utica, Ohio.
Lucille married the love of her life Everett Wicker on November 3, 1951, in Indiana. They started raising their three children in Homer, Ohio and later move to Utica, Ohio. Here they settled into life where they enjoyed 55 years together.
Lucille is survived by her three sons, Kenneth (Lorraine) Wicker, of Fredericktown, Larry Wicker of Utica, and David Wicker of Sadieville, Kentucky.
Lucille leaves behind two grandchildren, Sabrina Wicker of Fredericktown and Christina (Curt) Connell of Mount Vernon, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Sydney (Brumley) and Logan Smalley of Ft. Worth, Texas, Drew Wicker of Fredericktown, Ohio, and Jaxson Connell of Mount Vernon, Ohio. She also leaves behind three brothers, Vernon, Stanley, and James; two sisters, Virginia, and Georgine, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Wicker; a son Keith; her parents, Fred and Lillie Smith; three brothers, Glennie, Clarence, and Arthur, and a sister, Margaret Opal Smith.
Lucille enjoyed being a homemaker and tending to her garden throughout the years. She was an avid canner and put-up lots of fresh produce from her garden each growing season. She was actively involved in her church and enjoyed the fellowship it provided. Lucille was always willing to help with many carry-in dinners at church and offer support wherever needed.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Homer Cemetery in Homer, Ohio on Friday May 13 th , 2022, at 10 a.m.
