Obituary

Mildred L. Chopson, 94 of Utica passed away on October 13, 2025 at SharonBrooke Assisted Living. She was born on October 16, 1930 in Newark, OH to the late Floyd and Elsie (Rish) Fowler.

Mildred graduated from Utica High School in 1949 and lived most of her life in the St. Louisville and Utica area. She had worked a short time at Pizza Crust in Johnstown and Velvet Ice Cream in the late 60's and early 70's. She was a member of the St. Louisville United Methodist Church and attended the Utica Church of Christ with her husband and family. She was a member of the Eagles and lifetime member of the O.C.M.A.

Don and Millie were married on May 31, 1975. They lived in Frostproof, FL during the winter months and came home in the spring to start farming. Don and Millie took a trip to Germany and Switzerland and got to see where Don served in the Army during WWII. They loved to go square dancing, fishing, traveling, cruises and gambling trips.

Millie took a cake decorating class at the JVS. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Turk and Donna (Mike) Holmes; grandchildren, Rebecca (Ron) Maurer, Michael (Angela) Holmes, Matthew (Ruth) Holmes and Bradley (Clair) Turk; great-grandchildren, Amanda Gosture, Lydia (Colt) Flowers, Caleb, Kylee, Elsie and Kolesen Holmes; brother, Lowell (Ruby) Fowler; sisters, Shirley (Ron) Priest, Bonnie (Weldon) Dudley; sister-in-law, Patty Smart; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Chopson who passed Feb. 18, 1995; brothers, Everett, Donald and Dale Fowler; and sisters-in-law, Helen Fowler and Judy Fowler.

The family will receive friends from 11-1pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025  at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica where the funeral service will be held at 1pm. Burial will follow at Bell Cemetery.
