Mildred L. "Granny" Yates

March 12, 1935 – July 4, 2018

A funeral service for Mildred Yates, 83, of Mt. Vernon will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica with Minister Victor Slutz officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service.

Ms. Yates passed away on July 4, 2018 at Country Court Nursing Center in Mt. Vernon. She was born on March 12, 1935 in Wakeman to the late George and Hazel (Hewitt) Campbell.

Granny enjoyed reading, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an expert embroiderer. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Ellen and Carl Ferch and Karen Scheid; sons, Marlon and Greg Brooks; ten grandchildren;

sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Stan and Paula Campbell; longtime companion, Jerry Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Geoffrey Brooks; daughter, Dianne Boyd; brothers, Harold, Lyle and Duane Campbell; sister, Virginia Conry.
