Utica – Patricia Ann (Tarrh) Cornelius, 94 years old, passed away on July 24, 2023, at the Country Club Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon, OH. Patty was born on March 15, 1929, in Perrysville, Ohio, to the late Jesse E. and Linnie E. (Fisher) Tarrh. When Patty was 5 years old, her father died at the age of 33. Her mother married Oscar P. Rodgers in 1943. He was loved by his stepdaughters, Patty and Katy, and was a very good man and highly thought of by everyone.

Patty was a graduate of Bladensburg High School and Mount Vernon Business College. She was employed by Ohio Power in Mount Vernon, Ohio, as secretary to the manager for five years. She was employed by National City Bank in Utica, Ohio, and retired after 26 years. She thoroughly enjoyed working with her customers and co-workers.

She married Donald E. Cornelius, Sr., on May 14, 1949. They were blessed with two sons, Donald E. Cornelius, Jr., and Daniel E. Cornelius. Patty and Donald lived and farmed in the Utica community throughout their married lives. She loved her home, family, children and caring for grandchildren.

Patricia was a member of the Owl Creek Baptist Church where she served the Lord over 60 years in various offices and committees. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Deaconess. She especially loved music and was a pianist, assistant organist and sang in the adult choir. She also loved singing in the Utica Community Choir.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Donald E. Cornelius, Sr., of 74 years, son Daniel E. Cornelius (Angela) of Utica, granddaughter Elizabeth Cornelius, and grandson, Zach Cornelius (Kori).

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by son Donald E. Cornelius, Jr., stepfather Oscar P. Rodgers, and sister J. Kathleen Biggs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Owl Creek Baptist Church, 4044 Owl Creek Church Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main Street, Utica, Ohio. The funeral service will be at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1p.m. Burial will be at Owl Creek Cemetery, 4044 Owl Creek Church Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
