Perma Jean (Ritter) Rice
Utica - A funeral service for Perma Jean (Ritter) Rice, 86 of Utica, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2010 at Utica Church of Christ with Alan Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
Perma died peacefully with her family at her side May 2, 2010 at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. She was born January 27, 1924, in Bowling Green to the late Leroy and Vera (Amos) Ritter.
She was a member of Methodist Church of Bellvue and attended the Utica Church of Christ for 58 years. Perma was a charter member of Utica Historical Society and currator for the Utica Museum. She volunteered for 57 years at Utica schools and the Utica community. Perma was the representative for the Utica Food Pantry and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a recipient of the Utica Humanitarian Award and inducted into the Utica Hall of Fame. She graduated from Tiffin University and worked in Cleveland before her marriage to Bob. Perma lived in Utica for 58 years.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert G. Rice of Utica; daughters and son-in-law, Robbi L. Rice of Mount Vernon and Teresa and Jeff Hardesty of Martinsburg; four grandchildren, Paul and Jessie Hardesty, Jared, Bradley and Lane Hardesty; one great-granddaughter, Eliza Hardesty; sisters, Jocelyn Bradford of Homestead, FL and Regina Frederick of Bellevue; extended family, Russell and Ruth Biggs of Mount Vernon, Bob and Betty Biggs of Utica, Lou Bone of Monroe, Lucille Parker, Mary and Donald Frye and Anna Mae Biggs all of Mount Vernon and Linda Combs of Hilliard.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Howard L. Ritter, extended family, Hazel Scott and Gerald Biggs.
