Obituary

Peter H. Brailey

Peter Harry Brailey of Utica, Ohio, passed away on November 13, 2021, at Altercare Newark North. He was eighty-one years old.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia "Trudy" Brailey; his three children, Trevor (Sharon) Brailey of Utica, Amy (Scott) Eversole of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Brooke (Matthew) Williams of Bangor, Maine; eight grandchildren, Brian, Abigail, Joy, Patrick, Samantha, Grace, Jack, and Melody; and his sister, Judith Brailey (Ernst) Rosenberger of New York City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Helen Brailey.

He was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 20, 1940. He served in the ROTC at Purdue University and then was stationed with the US Army in Germany for two years. For most of his career he worked as an investments analyst for banks in Ohio and Virginia.

He was interested in history and was a member of the Richmond Civil War Round Table and the Roseville Historical Society. He also enjoyed watching sports in person or on television; he usually rooted for the underdogs and lamented frequent losses by teams from Northeast Ohio.

Pete served as an elder in the Lake Street Church of Christ in Roseville, Ohio, where he often preached and taught Bible classes. He leaves behind many brothers and sisters in churches in the areas in which he lived. He also leaves behind an example of generosity and faithfulness.

He loved to talk to people about where they were from and what they did. He never met a stranger. He found ways to help those in need and often paid attention to underappreciated people and places.

Calling hours are 5:00-7:00 on Thursday, November 18 at the Law-Baker Funeral Home in Utica, where the funeral will also take place on Friday, November 19, at 10:00. Burial at Utica's South Lawn Cemetery will follow the funeral. His son, Trevor Brailey, will officiate.

Pete's family would like to thank the staff in the Memory Care unit at Altercare for treating him with great kindness during his time there.
